  About the work

  A single jar of “perfume” my children made in the backyard has captured my imagination and been the catalyst for this body of work.

  I transfer these worlds to canvas with poured paint, bold brush marks, and rich color. Moments of chaos, moments of control. Submerged in thin, romantic glazes of color and light. I attempt to scratch the surface of the magic and curiosity embodied in that first jar.

  This particular batch of patingings draws out the beauty that can coexist with struggle. I’m bringing a little darkness to each of these pieces, as an acceptance of the inevitability of struggle, and a reminder of the beauty that can still be found in the midst of it.
