ABOUT ME

With a BFA in Art and Art Education…
16 years in the art world—showing work in galleries, selling to collectors around the world, navigating dozens of successful commissions, teaching, speaking, workshopping and building a business…
39 years with ADHD—but only recently diagnosed, and wow did that explain a lot, and throw me into a deep dive of healing and self discovery…
13 years as a mother—floundering, reconciling, embracing, hanging on to my art career by the skin of my teeth and flourishing in the process…
I have learned a LOT—usually the hard way.
I would love to share that knowledge with you.

Also, I'm a little bit obsessed with helping people. I literally can't stop myself! It breaks my heart to see artists crumble under the weight of impossible expectations, or flounder in confusion when a simple change could set them on an incredible path. It doesn't have to be this hard! In fact, it can be wonderful!

I am approachable, down to earth, and I want to help you find relief and joy in your creative journey.

MY APPROACH

I believe a healthy creative practice is comprised of three stages. These are not necessarily chronological. Realistically we cycle through them, and even work on all three at once. But if you skip the first two steps you lack the solid foundation on which healthy careers with true longevity are built. The stages are:

1. HEALING -- Confronting insecurities, past failures, comparison (especially around social media), wounds from motherhood, unrealistic expectations, and limiting beliefs... like the idea that you'll never 'make it' as an artist, and so much more.

There is a LOT to unpack here, and I believe it's the MOST IMPORTANT work for a healthy relationship with creativity. You may notice, basically all of my writing and content focuses on this crucial stage. I’ll guide you through these complicated feelings and open you up to deeper joy, possibility, and genuine creativity.

2. EXPLORING -- Taking time to explore and enjoy art for art's sake. Exploring new concepts and materials. Making consistent time for creativity in your life and falling in love with the process. Setting small goals and keeping them. Discovering your voice as an artist without the pressure of sales. Actively pursuing joy and allowing space for curiosity and wonder as you work with your hands.

3. COMMITTING -- Deciding you are ready to commit to a professional practice. Creating a body of work and setting prices. Taking and editing photos, creating a website and navigating social media. Creating a brand and marketing your work without feeling sleazy. Applying to shows, navigating commissions, creating an email list and more.

Basically, committing to a professional practice means you are now a small business owner! But never fear, we’ll take it one step at a time!
